Not much to write about this week apart from running and a bit more running!!  The end of March saw the clocks go forward an hour, losing an hour in bed, but also came Mother's Day.  After some negotiations with Madelaine I was granted my Mother's Day pass out for the morning.  Mother's Day was also the day of one of the local Leicestershire Road Running League (LRRL) races and my old club Hermitage Harriers had been struggling for numbers for one reason or another so I was happy to help them make up the numbers.

With it being "local" it meant I could use the race as marathon pace insert as part of a long run.  This meant 6 miles from home, 5 miles at marathon pace, and 6 miles home.  With the race starting at 10:30 it also gave Mads a lie in on Mothers Day whilst I was up early with the boys, part of the agreement so I could run the race!

I'd never ran the Desford 5 race before as the last time I'd raced it it was a 6 mile event.  The route itself involves some gentle undulations with a fairly quick start.  The target was to stick to around marathon pace but ended up running quicker than planned in 26:56 and was first to cross finish line.  I didn't have time to hang around though and after a quick swig of water I was onward with my journey home.

After a quick shower we were then over to Lichfield for Mother's Day lunch.  Fitting training around family life continues to be important and it was great for the boys to spend the afternoon playing in Granny and Grandads garden with even a rare bit of sunshine.  Out came the mini inflatable zorbs and the battle commenced with the kids, no prizes for guessing who won the duel though.  I'm sure Zack will get his revenge over his big brother in years to come!
